The Calm Before

The storm is coming! The storm is coming! Walking down the street just now I could swear I felt that little twinge in the air that means that in a few days the Eastern Seaboard is going to get whomped by a whole lot of water. As natural disasters go, a hurricane isn’t quite as cool or exciting as a blizzard – you can’t climb on it afterwards, and it has more potential to break things. But they’re still pretty glorious. Ihopenobodygetshurt and Ihopeeverybody’shomesstayputtogether, but mostly I say

BRING THE RAIN! DO YOUR WORST, POSEIDON! I SHALL FROLIC AMID THE DELUGE AND LAUGH AT THE HOWLING WINDS! AAARRRRGGGGHH!

Granted, I’ll be doing this while sitting on the cozy futon indoors sipping tea, but it’s still gonna be fun.

For constant hurricane coverage, you can always go to the usual sources, but you’ll learn a heck of a lot more reading Alan’s Fresh Bilge. While you’re at it scroll down and check out his commentary on Isabel’s progress over the past several days as well. Good stuff.
